HINTS AND TIPS TO HELP PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY. PART 3 – BREAK INS AND THEFT

Continuing our committment to helping our customers avoid some common causes of damage to their properties.

Break ins and Theft

  1. Fit strong external doors which are secured with five (or more) lever mortice deadlocks or extra sliding bolts will improve the security of your property. French Doors and sliding patio doors should be fitted with top and bottom mortice locks.
  2. Avoid using easy to reach locations for a key storage box. Make sure keys are not kept within reach of the letterbox.
  3. Burglars will be aware of external spare key storage boxes on the market designed to look like garden ornaments.
  4. Burglar Alarms. Dummy boxes on the outside wall of your property can act as a deterrent and are cheaper than purchasing an alarm ssytem, however it is recommended that you choose the best system to fit your budget and should look for a system with a loud siren that dials a pre-programmed number to let you or a central monitoring station know that the alarm has been tripped. Remember: never leave your property with the alarm turned off!
